The Kind Hive Story
Hello! My name is Carly, and I am the owner, operator, and sole beeswax wrap maker at the Kind Hive. I live in Kelowna, British Columbia, with my husband and young son. I do have a 9-5 in the corporate world, but the Kind Hive is my beloved side hustle! I started it up while on maternity leave in the summer of 2019.
In late 2018, while preparing our home for a new baby, I found myself reading up on the dangers of various synthetic chemical-based household products that many of us have in our homes. I stumbled upon some literature related to the toxins found in everyday plastic wrap. Suffice to say I didn't like what I was reading.
But how could I replace plastic wrap in my home? The zip-top bags? Sandwich baggies? I didn't know there was an alternative until I discovered beeswax wraps.
As I read more about them, I fell more and more in love with the idea: wraps are completely natural, can be organic, and are totally reusable. No only could I eliminate some of the unnecessary and potentially harmful plastics from our home, but I could also reduce our negative impact on the world: they're so environmentally friendly! Maybe I could help make the world just a tiny bit healthier in time for our little one to arrive.
A few months later, the Kind Hive was born. After many hours of mixing, testing, and using my friends and family as testers for my many prototypes, I think I've finally found the perfect blend of natural and organic ingredients that you can feel safe using in your home, and that are safe for the environment.
Safe, natural ingredients are important to us all. That is why the Kind Hive’s beeswax wraps are made with 100% organic cotton, organic Canadian beeswax, natural food-grade tree rosin, and organic jojoba oil.
I am committed to providing you with the best product nature can deliver to you, and to your family, too.
